Draft: pending legal review — not yet in effect

Draft: pending legal review. This page describes what the service does today. The sections marked "Owner section" have not been written yet and nothing on this page has been reviewed by a lawyer. Paid runs are not on sale until they are complete.

1. Who provides the service

The service is operated by llab08, based in Hong Kong. These terms are governed by Hong Kong law. Contact hello@llab08.com.

Githubuilder is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by GitHub, Inc. “GitHub” is a trademark of GitHub, Inc. and is used here only to describe the service the runs work with.

Contact for everything on this page: hello@llab08.com.

2. What the service does

Githubuilder provides runs. A run is executed by our worker on a GitHub account that you control, using a fine-grained access token that you create for that run. Three paid tiers are planned:

  • Trial ($3.99, one-time): 200 backdated commits on one test repository; 200 past contributions on your contribution graph.
  • Basic ($9.99, one-time): 600 backdated commits across 8 template repositories; 600 past contributions on your contribution graph.
  • Advanced ($49.99, one-time): 2 AI-generated repositories on topics you choose; About 2,500 backdated commits.

Each run pushes commits whose author dates fall in the past — either spread over the last four years (Trial size) or inside a date range you choose (Basic, Advanced) — to new, empty repositories on your GitHub account: for a Trial-size run, one repository that you create beforehand; for Basic and Advanced runs, public repositories that the run creates. A run never writes to a repository that already has commits. Basic runs copy files from the template repositories listed in section 5; Advanced runs generate code with a third-party AI model from the descriptions you enter. One purchase is one run; a run that has completed cannot be re-used.

Free beta. While the free beta is open, a signed-in user can start Trial-size runs (200 commits in one empty repository they create) without payment, up to 2 per account in any 24 hours and one at a time. A beta run that is handed back unused (for example because GitHub rejected the token) does not count again. The free beta can be paused or ended at any time.

3. Your GitHub account and token

You must own or be authorised to use the GitHub account you connect. Only fine-grained personal access tokens are accepted; classic tokens are refused. For a Trial-size or free beta run the token should reach only the one repository you created for it, with the Contents permission set to read and write; Basic and Advanced runs need a token that can create repositories. The run page lists the exact settings. The token you enter is encrypted as soon as it reaches our server, kept only while your run is queued or running, used solely by the worker executing that run, and deleted when the run finishes, fails or is handed back to you. Give the token a short expiry and delete it on GitHub when the run is done. You are responsible for everything done on your GitHub account with a token you supplied.

4. Acceptable use

You must comply with GitHub's Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policies and with the law that applies to you. You may only run the service against accounts you control.

Written position on GitHub's rules on inauthentic activity and bulk automated content, and whether backdated commit histories are permitted at all (applicability not yet verified).

List of prohibited uses (for example misrepresenting experience to an employer) and consequences.

Token policy: the service now accepts only fine-grained tokens (limited to one repository for Trial-size and free beta runs). Confirm in writing, including the broader token that Basic and Advanced runs need.

5. Template repositories and their licences

Basic runs copy files from third-party template repositories into repositories on your account. Each template's own licence continues to apply to its files; several templates have no licence file and one is GPL-3.0. The current inventory:

Which templates may ship; removal or replacement of the unlicensed ones and of the GPL-3.0 one.

How attribution and licence files are preserved in the repositories created for users.

6. AI-generated code (Advanced)

Advanced runs send the repository names, languages and descriptions you enter to a third-party language model and commit the returned code. The code is generated, not reviewed by us; we make no statement about its originality, correctness, security or fitness for any purpose. Your GitHub token is not sent to the model provider.

7. Payments and refunds

Paid runs are one-time purchases in US dollars processed by Stripe; card details are entered on Stripe's checkout page and never reach us. Free beta runs cost nothing and collect no payment details. A run that cannot start because of your input (for example a rejected token) is handed back to you unused. A run that fails after our retries is marked failed; write to hello@llab08.com with the run id shown on your account page.
